Privacy Policy
Effective Date: June 2026
Introduction
Pocket Otium is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy outlines our practices regarding the collection and use of information provided by users of our web dashboard, mobile application, and browser extensions.
Information Collection
We collect information that you explicitly provide when using our services. When you create an account, we collect your email address for authentication and service delivery. When you save an item, we collect the URL and the page content of the web pages you choose to add to your personal library, along with information extracted from that content such as its title, author, source name, and article text. We do not collect data about pages you do not explicitly choose to save.
Browser Extension Data Collection
Our "Pocket Otium Save" browser extension collects the URL and page content of the active tab only at the moment you explicitly click the extension's "Save" button. This information is sent to our servers to extract and save the article to your personal library. The extension authenticates using your existing Pocket Otium login session (a cookie set when you sign in at pocketotium.com); it does not read, store, or transmit your password or any separate authentication token. It does not track your browsing history, run in the background, or access any tab other than the one you choose to save.
Email Forwarding & RSS Ingestion
If you use our email forwarding feature, we only receive and process emails that you explicitly forward to your unique `@inbox.pocketotium.com` address. We do **not** request, require, or store credentials to access your personal email accounts (like Gmail OAuth), and we never scan or read your personal inbox. We only parse the content of the newsletters you choose to forward to convert them into audio articles.
How We Use Information
The information we collect is used solely to provide and improve our services, including:
- Managing your personal reading queue and library.
- Extracting and formatting content for an optimized reading experience.
- Generating audio versions of saved content for your personal use.
Data Sharing and Security
We prioritize the security of your data. We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personally identifiable information or reading history to outside parties for marketing purposes. We use industry-standard encryption and security practices to protect your data against unauthorized access.
Third-Party Services
We rely on a small number of trusted third-party providers to operate Pocket Otium, including Supabase for authentication and database storage, and a text-to-speech provider used to generate the optional audio narration of your saved articles. These providers process your data only as needed to deliver these features and are required to keep your information confidential. We do not sell or share your data for advertising.
Changes to This Policy
We reserve the right to update this privacy policy at any time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date.
